💉 Vaccination Schedule

⚠️ High-Risk Vaccines:

  • Leptospirosis, Lyme, and Corona can cause stronger reactions in small breeds such as severe liver inflammation and anaphylaxis—avoid unless your vet confirms a true exposure risk.

  • Oral flea/tick preventives (NexGard, Simparica, Bravecto) – high risk of seizures and vomiting.

  • Multi-combo vaccines – overwhelm immune system; always use single-dose spaced vaccines.

  • Avoid sedation or anesthesia the same day as vaccination.

🐾 Parasite Treatment Schedule 🐾

Important Considerations

  • Consult your vet: Always consult with your veterinarian to determine the best deworming schedule and product for your individual dog's lifestyle and health needs.

  • Heartworm prevention: Many monthly products for adult dogs also protect against heartworm, fleas, and ticks. Discuss if a monthly preventative is right for your dog.

  • Fecal exams: Even with a consistent deworming schedule, it's a good idea to have your vet perform fecal exams periodically to check for any parasites.

  • Environmental cleanliness: Keep your puppy's environment clean to help minimize parasite exposure. This includes regularly cleaning up feces and washing bedding.

Recommended Cleaners for Parasite Control

  • Oxy-Time or Rescue (Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide): Excellent for killing Giardia, Coccidia, and other protozoa. Safe on most surfaces.

  • Ammonia (10% solution): Effective for disinfecting areas contaminated with Coccidia oocysts. Use in well-ventilated areas and rinse thoroughly.

  • Steam Cleaning: Heat above 160°F (71°C) kills most parasite eggs and oocysts — ideal for kennels, floors, and bedding.

  • Bleach (1:16 dilution): Partially effective against Giardia; best for non-porous surfaces. Not reliable for Coccidia.
